At Albert North Veterinary Clinic, our doors are also open to exotic animals such as exotic birds, iguanas, guinea pigs, and more. Our veterinarians are trained to care for exotic pets and can provide a high level of care for exotic animals that are domesticated. To know more about care for exotic pets or to book an appointment, feel free to call us at 306-545-7211.
We are a full-service hospital, and we provide care to exotic pets such as amphibians, reptiles, hamsters, birds, mice, guinea pigs, ferrets, hedgehogs, rabbits, rats, and more. Don’t hesitate to call us to learn about the specific types of exotic pets we treat.
Nutritional diseases are the number one cause of concern among exotic pets. It is the number one reason exotic pets are presented to a veterinarian for an examination. All animals have specific nutritional requirements, and generalizations about dietary needs cannot be made based on assumed lifestyles and needs. For example, a guinea pig and a rat are both rodents, but their nutritional requirements are quite different.
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide after-hour emergency care for exotic pets. In such an incident, we ask you to contact the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon at 1-306-966-7126. They have 24-hour service and an ICU available for exotic patients.
