I grew up in Calgary and moved out to an acreage where I developed a strong love for nature and animals. I worked at a clinic in Okotoks (starting in grade 10) and knew that this was what I wanted to do with my life. I had several horses and rode both English and Western style, but had a strong love of show jumping and Prince Philip games (relay races on horseback). I was chosen to represent Canada and competed on an International team for PPG. Once in veterinary school, I developed a love for surgery and realized that small animals would be a better choice to develop myself in this area.

I had to give up my horses to go to veterinary school so decided to start showing dogs instead. My husband and I decided on Dalmatians for our breed and were active in showing and breeding dogs for about 15 years. We had several group, best puppy in show and specialty placing dogs during our time. I also dabbled in obedience and agility over the years. This led me to an interest in reproduction in dogs where I am still active today doing semen collection, shipping and breeding with frozen and chilled semen. I also have an interest in ultrasound and recently have been developing myself in cardiac evaluations.  I also love working on behaviour and training young dogs to help develop happy relationships between dogs and owners.

Fun fact about me would be my recent interest in beekeeping. My partner Bernie and I have four colonies that produce up to 1500 lbs of honey each year. I enjoy teaching people, especially children, about bees and their importance to our world.
