Albert North Veterinary Clinic - Services

Due to the shorter lifespan of our pets, we stress the importance of an annual physical examination. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. We offer a wide range of veterinary services to keep your companions feeling their best:

Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs.

Anesthesia:  We utilize a wide variety of injectable anesthetics and analgesics as well as isoflurane gas. Anesthesia protocols are tailored to each individual patient to maximize comfort and safety during surgery.  During anesthesia and recovery all patients are monitored by a licensed veterinary technologist using a pulse oximeter and blood pressure monitor.  Warm water heating blankets are used to keep the patient warm during surgery.  Heat discs/bags and lamps are used for warmth once they are in the recovery ward.

Dentistry:  Our dental services include teeth cleaning and polishing, digital dental X-rays, extractions and minor oral surgery. Learn more about dental care in pets.

Surgical Services:  Our modern surgical suite provides for the operation of a wide variety of surgical procedures.   Surgical FAQ's

Behavioural Counseling:  We can provide advice regarding the correction of many behaviour problems. Please make an appointment to see a veterinarian if you have a particular behavioural concern so that we may form an individualized plan for your pet.

Dietary Counseling:  We have highly trained nutrition consultants that will provide guidance regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight loss/maintenance and performance.

Electrocardiography Services:  We provide ECG services on-site. Referral of the results of an ECG study to a veterinary cardiologist is available if needed.

Emergency Care:  We are pleased to provide emergency care for our patients during office hours.  If possible, please call ahead  306-545-7211, to let us know you are coming. After hours please call 306- 761-1449 to reach the 24 Hour Animal Care Center (Regina's after hours emergency clinic)

Grooming: We provide pedicures, ear cleaning and plucking, anal gland expression and mat trimming. Beak and feather trims are available for avian patients as well as tooth trims for other exotics.  We also provide complete shave downs with sedation for cats or dogs a groomer cannot routinely handle. For general routine grooming we will be happy to refer you to one of our recommended groomers.

Laboratory:  Our in-hospital laboratory facilities provide for serum chemistry, hematology, serology, urinalysis and parasite testing. We also utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations.         Why do blood work?

Massage: We offer canine massage with our highly trained team member.  Massage is great for patients who have had any surgery, patients with arthritis, an injury, or that play any sport.  Massage can help your pet feel better and move more freely.

Permanent identification: We offer tattooing and microchip identification.  Please note that tattoos can only be done while a patient is under anesthetic.  Microchips can be done at any clinic appointment time.

Pharmacy:  We maintain a wide variety of pharmaceuticals to meet the needs of most of our patients. We work with a compounding pharmacy to provide many patients with customized "flavors" for many medications. We also carry a full line of prescription diets for animals with special dietary requirements.

Radiology Services:  Our in-hospital modern digital X-ray equipment provides high quality radiographs to aid in a quick diagnosis.

Reproductive Services:  We provide a full spectrum of reproductive services, including: Progesterone testing, AI's, Surgical Implants, Pregnancy Ultrasounds and X-rays, as well as Reproductive Counseling.

Ultrasound: We offer in house ultrasound for most cases.  Specialized cardiac ultrasounds will be referred to the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon
